When it became apparent that the Rajputs were on a losing trail, the Queen and other women in the palace decided to take the path of Jauhar, a form of self-destruction in which a ceremonial pyre is lit and the women jump in to it to save their honor when defeat by the enemy forces becomes certain.

The warriors of opened the gate of the fort's and fought until their death. Queen Padmini and the other women in the palace gave up their lives at the same time to save them from being captured alive by the Allaudin Khilji and his forces.
