Versova fort or Madh fort that is located in the island holds historical importance. This fort was built by Portuguese in the 17th century as a watch tower. Today, this fort could be seen in many Bollywood movies, as it has become a popular destination for movie shooting. Another historical place here is the St. Bonaventure Church, which was built by Portuguese in the 16th century. The Church is visited by many devotees during the month of January during the Feast day.

How to Reach

By Rail

Mumbai city is one of the metros in India which has perfect connectivity through local trains. To reach Madh Island the nearest railway station is Malad which only 12 kms away.

By Road

The Madh Island can be easily reached by roads with its nearness to Mumbai city. There is frequent bus service available from Malad, Borivali and Andheri. Alternately, one can hire a rickshaw from Malad as well.

By Ferry

One can reach Madh Island in boat as well.  Ferry service is available from Versova, also from Gorai creek in Borivalli.
