Modhera is known for its temples and religious background. Sun Temple in Modhera is supposedly the most visited place in this city. Since Mahatma Gandhi was born and brought up in Gujarat, the history associated with him is of special significance in various historical monuments and structures. Places like Porbandar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surat and Dandi are included in the Gandhi Tourism Circuit which tells various stories related to the mahatma’s life.

Bhavnagar and Rajkot are having special importance due to their presence in the Gandhi Tourism Circuit and apart from this fact, these cities also have plenty of historic sightseeing places. Rashtriyashala and few other educational institutes from the time of India’s freedom struggle are found in Rajkot. There are also many temples of historic and monumental importance. Bhavnagar forms the fifth largest city in Gujarat, with majority of sightseeing places being the historical sites. There are many temples as well as some museums. Large palaces like Nilambaug Palace are also found in Bhavnagar.

Gujarat has a number of districts and cities which have plenty of significance for the tourists. As a tourist attraction, the historical monuments and structures have special mention.
