Rajasthan is full of great personalities who have significantly contributed to the chronological legacy of the state. The personalities include both the historical as well as the contemporary. These personalities are from varied fields of Music and dance, Politics, industry, science, literature, army, art, culture and cinema etc.

These distinctive characters have accomplished the place of admiration and esteem out of their sheer devotion and hard-work in their respective field of work. They are admired not only within the country and state but also around the world.

Pratibha Patil

Rajasthan gave the 12th and the first women president to Indian republic in Pratibha Patil. She was born and brought up in Jaipur city. The keen interests shown by her in upholding the constitution and making new strides to take the nation forward are worth to reverence and greeting.

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

A unique player of Indian slide guitar, Mr. Bhatt renders classical Hindustani music in its original essence. He has been bestowed with two honorary awards of Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Academy due to his amazing love and dedication for music.

Rajya Vardhan Singh Rathore

He is an army officer and celebrated Indian shooter who, in 2004 Olympic, won a Silver Medal in double trap of men. Rathore made both the country and his native Rajasthan state proud of his winning.  The people of India respect his hard work and dedication for taking the country to new heights in shooting.

Rajeev Khandelwal

Rajeev is a well-known and reputed soap operas actor who can now also be seen on the silver screen of bollywood. Mansarover, a largest colony of Jaipur, is his birth place. With his hard-work, dedication and simplicity, Rajeev have carried the Rajasthani culture to modern societies.

Lakshmi Narayan Mittal

Mittal, a son of Sadulpur village of district Churu in Rajasthan, is an Industrialist of international repute and reside in Kensington, London. He is among the ten richest people of the world. He is from a humble background family who has spent his early years in India with his large family on bare brick floors and Indian beds in his grandfather’s built-up house.

Shri Ghanshyam Das Birla

G. D. Birla is one of the founder members of the famous Birla group of Industries. He was born at Pilani in Rajasthan where later on he had undertaken the society development works and had recognized there the famous Birla Institute of Engineering and technology college in Pilani amongst other institutions of education. Among the top ranked technical institute of India, BITS Pilani also has a section of research institute in electronics engineering (CEERI), one famed public school managed by Birla family and other polytechnic colleges. He was bestowed with Padma Vibhushan by the Indian government in 1957.

Prithvi Raj Chauhan

Prithvi Raj was the last Hindu ruler to acquire the throne of Delhi at a tender age of 11 in 1179CE. He was also the last Delhi ruler of the dynasty of chauhan. He ruled from the double capitals of Delhi and Ajmer. He was responsible to unite the Rajput forces to face and fight against the invasions of Muslim forces. Chauhan eloped with Sanyogita (samyukta), the daughter of Gaharwal king Jai chand of Kannauj. This elopement is a very popular romantic tale of his personality. The total major events of his life are the legends of deeds of courage, gallant and bravery.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat

Shekhawat was born in the district Sikar of Rajasthan and was also the former Indian vice President. He was the active member of Bharratiya Janata Party and also served the state of Rajasthan thrice as Chief Minister. He did large and notable significant social work in Rajasthan. He was honored by his supporters with the title of “Rajasthan Ka Ek Hi Singh”. Shekhawat was also an independent candidate to fight the Presidential Election of India.

Maharana Pratap

The personality of Maharana Pratap is renowned for all the times to come. His personality was a unique combination of bravery, patriotism, spirit of independence, courage and self respect. Maharana pratap was born as a prince in May, 1540 in the princely state of Mewar and defended his state in many battles through-out his life from the invaders. The famous Haldighati battle is known for his all around leadership and bravery of his forces. His bravery and victory was accentuated in Dewair battle of1582 and efficiently led his loving Marwar state.

Jagjit Singh

Jagjit Singh was born in colonial India at Ganganagar of Rajputana state. He is well-known both for classic and simple Indian ghazals. His emphatic and melodious voice and rendering of Ghazals were based on the classical and traditional Indian music making him unique and different from the customary Ghazal styles. India Government recognized his talent and honored him with one of the highest civilian decoration. His songs and albums are the best sellers.
