Vijay Stambh
Vijay Stambh or the Tower of Victory is yet another historical monument that shows the valour and vigour of Rajaputs. The Tower of Victory built by Rana Kambh in 1440 AD, to honour the victory over the Mahumud Khilji of Malwa. Although the Chittorgarh fort comprises of a lot of temples and palaces the Tower of Victory holds a special importance. Each slab on the tower signifies various aspects.
The fort was under siege thrice but has survived all through it and hence holds much historical importance and values. The Vijay Stambh has 9 storeys and each storey is decorated with the mythical stories of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The beauty of this structure is more enhanced during the evenings when it is illuminated.
Architecture
This remarkable structure is 37.19 m high and comprises of 9 storeys. It is made of red sandstone and white marbles and sculptured with the images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Each of the nine storeys has opening and balconies that face each story that are depicted on them. The interior spiral staircase goes through the central chamber and gallery. It is the best example of Rajaput style architecture.
History
Vijay Stambh was constructed in 1440 AD by Rana Kambh to denote the victory over Mahumud Khilji of Malwa. This place was also used as a cremation ground of the royal family and is only for the male members of the Rajaput family. There are Sati Stones surrounding the area that signifies the life sacrifice of the women of the Royal family on the pyre of their husbands.
Best Time to Visit
The perfect time to visit the place is between with the month of October and March. As it is a known fact that summers are harsh in Rajasthan and winters are cool and it will be the right time to visit the place.

By Air
The nearest airport is the Udaipur Airport which is only 90 kms from Chittorgarh
By Rail
Chittorgarh is well connected with the other parts of India. There are trains available from cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Kota. Also there is an option to travel on the luxury train known as the Palace on wheels.
By Road
As Chittorgarh is situated on National Highway 76 and 79, it is well connected with the other major cities through the express highway. Also Rajasthan road transport service provides bus services from different parts of the city to Chittorgarh.
