Nilambur houses the popular Teak Museum that treasures aesthetic, scientific and historical aspects of the wonder tree, Teak. This wonder tree draws a large group of tourists all over the year. The teak plantations, rivers, mild climate and waterfalls offer a touching experience to the visitors. It presents the best of wild life and nature that is manifested in various ways through its extensive forests packed with bamboos, rosewood, teak, mahagoni, choropin and venteak. It also has several ancient residences of the local kings.

History

The first teak plantation was established in Nilambur in the Connolly plot about 150 years back. It was named in honor of the Collector of Malabar, H.V Connolly who established the plantation. The town has many royal residencies which were the dwellings places of the rulers and kings.
