Kerala Tourism Policy 2012

Kerala is a famous destination that attracts a large number of tourists from all over the country. The tourism department in this state is making several efforts to formulate a well defined and structured tourism policy. This policy’s objective is to market this attractive destination in the international market as well as domestic markets. This can be dome through Mega Projects related to tourism that encompass an eclectic mix of spiritual, heritage, culture and eco tourism. This mix offers a holistic experience to the tourists coming here. The main focus of the tourism Policy formulated in the year 2012 was to develop infrastructure in order to cater to the growing demands of the tourists.

Another focus is on the development of responsible tourism. This ensures positive development of tourism in the state. This way the services and products provided by tour operators improved.

Kerala tourism department had a meeting in New Delhi related to the current tourism policy. Several delegates came to this meeting and fine points of this policy were worked out.

Kerala tourism department, joint director Mohanan S told about the domestic markets from where tourists come to Kerala. Majorly tourist comes here from West Bengal, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The international markets are Germany, UK and USA.
