Vilangankunnu Hills

Originally, Vilangankunnu, which is located at just about 7km from the busy Thrissur district of Kerala, was just a hillock with a large development of unwanted weeds and irregular trees and plants. The State Government of Kerala realised the tourism potential of this place and started developing this place as an eco-tourism project by neatly converting this hillock into a much-visited picnic spot today. The view of the Thrissur district from the topmost part of this hillock is simply superb. The government has planted close to 600 mango trees on the road that leads to the top of the hill, to make it look more scenic and attractive. Vilangankunnu has a wonderful history of large number of peacocks, which can be witnessed by people who visit this tourist spot even today.
