One among the old tirth is Mahudi. In Jainism, it is one among the significant and miraculous Tirth destination. This is located near to Vijapur, Gujarat India. This place is popularly known for its Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir temple. Well known saints like Shri Budhdhi Sagarji Maharaj Saheb, Pujya Acharya, Shri Ghantakarna Dev Pran Pratishtha is in Mahudi.

History

In olden days, it was known as Madhupuri. The artistic and idol remains traced from its earth hollow predict this place to be more than 2000 years back. Its antiquity can also be known from its Brahmi script inscription.

In 1974 (1917 as per English calendar), Yognishta Acharyadev Mulnayak Bhagawana Padmaprabhu guided to reinstall the beautiful and ancient Mulnayak Bhagawana Padmaprabhu.

In 1974 (1917 in English calendar), Yognishta Acharyadev Shrimad Buddhisagar Suriswarji Maharaj Saheb observed and guided the installation of Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir statue in this new temple. Mahudi was renamed as Tirtha or Mahudi Tirth. Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir idol seem to be miraculous. Huge numbers of devotees throng this place with devotion and faith in order to accomplish their desires. The 14th day of dark half period of Aso month, there happen a charitable offering ceremony as per Jain rituals in this shri Ghantakarna Mahavir temple every year.

Architecture

Tirth witness lakhs of devotee’s very year. The single force behind this miracle is the great Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir Dev. This Tirth was constructed as per the guidance of the great Shrimad Buddhisagarji Maharaj Saheb. He put forth this temple after seeing Jain community wandering in search of other temples in order to fulfill their desires. He decided to come up with a special Jain temple where Jain people can come and pray for their wishes. He carried out hard core meditation (Saadhna) continuously for 3 full fays and witnessed Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir Dev ‘pratyaksha’ with the help of havan fire. He later on assigned to protect and work for the welfare of innocent people. Following this, he instantly drew the image on a rock found near a river side. He gave his complete dedication and Praan to make this idol of Shrimad Buddhisagar Maharaj Sahebji. Several thousands of people felt the miracle and also accomplished all their wishes by praying to Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir Dev in both professional and personal life. The villagers and devotees obtained tremendous prosperity from this Tirth. The Mahima (Prosperity and popularity) of Tirth keep on increasing every single day which is something unique in India.

Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagarji M.S. Gurudev reinstalled a 22 inch idol of Shri Bhagawan Padmaprabh in lotus (padmasana) posture inside this shrine.
Close to Lord Ghantakarna Mahavir’s shrine, another temple in the name of Guru Mandir with the statue of Acharya Shrimad Buddhisagarji Suriswarji M.S. Gurudev was constructed following his death.

A similar one was placed on the spot where the last rite of Maharaji was performed in Vijapur Jain temple.

Prasadam

‘Sukhadi’ otherwise known as ‘Prasad’ is made from jaggery, whear flour and pure ghee. The taste of this Prasad is very delicious. It should not be carried out from the temple and is advised to consume only inside the temple premises. Among the 52 vir, one is Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir. Every day thousands of devotees throng Mahudi Tirth to get blessings from Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir.

Facilities

There are various amenities like Non A.C. and A.C. rooms available with cold and hot shower, big garden, kitchen cum dining hall, European style washrooms are available for any kind of function. There is also parking space to accommodate many vehicles. Good water supply facility. Devotees are requested to stay in Atithi Bhavan.

Over 2 lakh people throng Mahudi Jain Tirthi during Kali Chaudas. People join together to form a chain and chant mantras 108 times and sing songs.

How to Reach

By Road

Gujarat contains best developed roadways in India. All major towns and cities are well connected with Ahmedabad. Established bus stops are situated at Paldi and Gitamandir besides Kalupur railway station. Both private and government operated buses are available from all major destinations of Gujarat.

By Rail

The major railway station is situated in Kalupur (Ahmedabad station). It is well connected with all major Indian cities and also comes under important national railway circuit. Towards the western direction of Sabarmati River, one can reach Gandhigram station close to Ashram road to purchase their railway tickets.

Other railway stations close to Mahudi are Dehgam (38 km), Himatnagar (22 km), Gandhinagar and Sabar Kantha.

By Air

The nearby airport is at Ahmedabad, Sardar Vallabhai Patel international airport. It connects to various countries including Dubai, Singapore, U K, USA etc… various domestic flights are also functioning in this airport.
