Nanaksar

Gurudwara Nanaksar, built in fond memory of Guru Govind Singh, is located a distance of 38 km from Ludhiana. Standing stoic in time; in the small town of Jagraon on Ferozpur road, this Gurudwara was established in 1975 by Baba Nand Singh.

According to legends, Gurudwara Nanaksar was erected by the devotees of Guru Govind Singh at the site of a dilapidated mud hut. This was the place where Guruji fell during the war. Gurudwara Nanaksar is an important center of Sikh worship and hold high religious significance. The structural framework of Gurudwara Nanaksar is extremely ornate and beautiful and boasts of a six-storeyed structure with a sanctum at its end and a huge marble-floored community hall.

The activities and administration of Gurudwara Nanaksar are managed by a non-denominational, religious, secular world (international) organization by the name of Nanaksar Satsang Sabha. This Gurudwara preaches selfless love, peace, universal brotherhood, harmony and service to people. Gurudwara Nanaksar near Ludhiana is one of the 19 Nanaksar Sikh Temples (Gurudwaras) located around the world and boasts of all Maryadas (Rituals) of Kirtan, community meals and mass prayer sessions.

Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Pehli

Founded to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, this beautiful Gurudwara is located on the scenic banks of Nanaksar Sarovar. This site reminds devotees of the visit of Guruji, who came to the region along with Bhai Bala and Bhai Mardana.

Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Chhevin

This Gurudwara was constructed by Sant Sunder Singh Bhindrawale in 1921 and pays testimony to the visit and stay of Guru Hargobind Ji. Guru Hargobind Ji had stopped here after being proclaimed victorious in the Battle of Mehraj, which took place in 1634 A.D. Guru Hargobind Ji and his victorious army were served by a devout and follower, Bhai Jakko. Located near the famous Nanaksar Gurudwara, this shrine is also an important center of seeking the blessings of Waheguru.

Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin

Constructed by Sant Darbara Singh of Lapon in 1962, this Gurudwara pays rich testimony to the visit of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin is located on the eastern fringes of Nanaksar Sarovar and lies in vicinity to the bathing place of Guruji. Gurudwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin is built on the site where Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed in Takhtupura in the month of December, 1705 A.D. on his way to Dina from Chakar.

Fairs

The premises of Gurudwara Nanaksar are transformed into a much visited venue in the month of August. People come all the way to the Gurudwara to offer their prayers and seek the blessing of Guru Gobind Singh during this annual fair. The festivities and celebrations continue across five days with millions of devotees visiting the separate shrines of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Guru Har Gobind Ji and Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Gurudwara Nanaksar is also well known for its festivals held every year from January 13th-17th. The occasion honors the valor and spiritual strength of Guru Hargobind Ji, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Shahidi Divas or Jor Mela is well attended by devotees and tourists from across the world and is the venue of numerous langars, sangats, kirtans and prayer sessions.

Best Visiting Time

People desirous of seeking their blessings at Gurudwara Nanaksar should time their visit with the fairs and festivals held in August and January. Full moon nights are also important days of worship and attract thousands of devotees from near and far. There are no Entry fees to Nada Sahib Gurudwara and can be visited on all days between 4:30 AM - 8:00 PM.

How to Reach

Gurudwara Nanaksar is located near Ludhiana in the small town of Jagraon located on Ferozpur road at a distance of 8 km from Ludhiana and 20 km from Pakhowal.

This important place of Sikh worship is well linked to Ludhiana and other towns and cities of Punjab by road. Tourists and devotees can avail of easy transportation facilities (buses, auto rickshaws, taxies and so forth) to visit Gurudwara Nanaksar.

Gurudwara Nanaksar Sahib is located in the village of Thakarwal on Pakhowal Road. It is a sprawling complex on the outskirts of Ludhiana.
