Sot River

Uttar Pradesh is a major province in north India. Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in the Indian Union. Higher population density in this state is attributed to fertile land, created through the existence of many small and big rivers. These rivers along with their tributaries crisscross the entire state. The net result of river network is settlement of human population along the banks. Rivers provided much needed water for drinking purposes and for irrigation of farmlands. A small river known by name of ‘Sot’ has served the mankind in Uttar Pradesh. Sot River is a tributary of the famous and sacred Ganga River. The city of Badaun is located on the left bank of Sot River. The river finally merges with River Ganga.
