Jammu

Jammu is the winter capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is located on the northern part of the state. Jammu is the centre for numerous temples and ashrams. The climate and the culture of Jammu areentirely different from the regions of Ladakh and Kashmir. The LOC between India and Pakistan runs nearby to the city. Jammu is famous for its popular Hindu shrines the vaishno Devi Temple and Raghunath Mandir.

Kashmir

Most of the regions of the state of Jammu and Kashmir fall in the Kashmir area. The place is full of valleys, lush meadows, crystal clear streams and picturesque location. The summer capital of the state, the Srinagar is located in this region.  Kashmir is famous for its dry fruits, saffron and delicious apples.

Ladakh

The region of Ladakh is located at an altitude of 3000 meters over the sea level. It houses some of the prominent passes which were the trade routes between Northern Asia, Europe and South-East Asia.

Numerous Military establishments of the country are located in this region to provide effective control of the Himalayan region. Ladakh tourism offers some of the exotic scenery and breathtaking viewpoints. Jammu & Kashmir: Valleys

Salt Lake Valley

Salt Lake Valley, located in Rupshu is one of the largest open areas in the region. Tourists can reach the Salt Lake Valley though the Tanglang La pass from Leh. The valley has a dimension of twenty km length and seven km width. The average altitude of the area is approximately 5,000 mts.

Suru Valley

Suru River originates from the Panzella glacier. The catchment area around the Suru River forms the Suru Valley. The river finally culminates with other rivers and tributaries like Dras into the Indus River. The Dras River joins the Suru atKharul.

Nubra Valley

The Khardung La pass which stands at an elevation of 18,640 feet separates Leh from Nubra Valley. On descending from Khardung La, one reaches a destination called "Khalsar", which is located at bank towards the left side of Shyok River. If we travel further the route gets divided into two. One route takes you to Bubra Valley, where as the other route which continues through the Shyok River reaches Dikshit and ultimately leads to Turtuk which is located in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. If we pass through the bridge on the Shyok River at Koyak, the lush meadows and beautiful open landscape which we experience is the Nurba Valley.

Kashmir Valley

Kashmir Valley is one of the beautiful valleys of the country which is situated between the Pir Panjal range and the Karakoram mountain range in the Northern most state of Indian Union, the Jammu and Kashmir. The complete area of the Kashmir Valley is located in the Indian Territory and no region falls in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The valley stands at a dimension of 135 Km length and 32 Km width around the Jhelum River. Kashmir valley forms the major part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and has 10 districts for better administrations. The districts which fall in the jurisdiction of the valley are Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipore and Ganderbal.
