Tourism Awards To Jammu And Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government has been recognized with the award for “Excellence in Regenerating Tourism” by a renowned travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveler. The magazine has recognized Jammu and Kashmir for its continuous efforts towards promoting tourism in the state, which has attracted a record number of international and domestic footfalls this year.

Jammu and Kashmir was felicitated for Comprehensive Development of Tourism in the State, awarded by President Pranab Mukherjee at an auspicious ceremony in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Royal Springs Golf Course in the state has also been recognized as the most tourism-friendly course in India. The awards were presented by the Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi, in acknowledgement of excellence in the tourism industry and were acknowledged by Atal Dulloo, IAS, Commissioner in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Dulloo was honoured by Ms. Pamela Tickoo, Tourism Officer, New Delhi and Abid Maqbool, Deputy Director Tourism, Kashmir The president of the award ceremony was Mr. Chiranjeevi, State Minister for Tourism, India. Mr. Parvez Dewan, Tourism Secretary also attended the award ceremony among other prestigious guests. The tourism ministry this day, exemplified unmatched potential of Jammu and Kashmir, and applauded the Government’s initiative to implement the Centrally Sponsored Schemes successfully to attract footfalls from across the world, and earn revenues.

“All Seasons Destination” Award to Jammu and Kashmir

The Pacific Asia Travel Writers Association (PATWA) has awarded Jammu and Kashmir as an “All Seasons Destination” in the world for its spectacular Gulmarg tourist resort. The award was presented at ITB Berlin, the leading travel trade show in the world, by Secretary General of PATWA and Executive Director, WTO, at ICC building, The award was received by the minister of state tourism, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, and Mir, who participated in the 4-day travel trade fair starting off from March 6, 2013. The fair presented 10,086 exhibitors from across 188 countries of the world who presented their unique products and services.

According to tourism officials, the visit to the Berlin travel trade fair has been tremendously positive. The state of Jammu and Kashmir is honored to be awarded as All Seasons Destination. However, the state has to work towards making Jammu and Kashmir, as one of the safest tourist destinations; for the foreign tourists.
