It was during the seventeenth century that the great Mughal Emperor Jahangir set his eyes on this state. He stayed on a houseboat in the state’s Dal Lake and he is believed to have famously said in his native language that Jammu and Kashmir was the only place on earth which could be referred to as “Paradise on Earth”.
