Kalhana the creator of Rajtarangini opines that Emperor Ashoka during the time of the 3rd Century BC founded the state of Srinagar. However, Srinagar what we know today was given form by Pravarasena II. It was in 630 AD when Huen Tsang came to Kashmir, and once you go through the description presented by him, you would find everything just the same now. Previously, Kashmir was considered as a vast lake area, and its mythological name was Satt e Sar. Ladakh
