St. Dominic’s Church is a famous church which is located in Vasant Vihar, Delhi, India. This is a Roman Catholic Church that follows the Ramon catholic traditions. The church happily supports various Christian religious services that are held throughout the year with full enthusiasm here. It is believed that the church got its initiation by Archbishop McNicholas in the year 1930 and underwent several changes after that to get the final form in which is currently present.

History of Church

St. Dominic’s Church’s history belongs to the time of 1930s when, as per legends, Archbishop McNicholas agreed to accept a plot donated by Robben family. The plot was situated on Tanner Road which is now known as Pedretti. This plot was donated with a purpose to make a parish and the task of constructing this parish was assigned to chaplain at Mount St. Joseph, Rev. J.A. Grimmelsman. It is said that on 29th of October in 1933, the 1st mass of the St. Dominic Parish community was addressed at the Mutual Aid Hall which was on Greenwell Road. The rent was amounted to be $25.00 per month while the first collection here was $20.00.

The foundation stone for the 1st building was laid in the year 1934 on 22nd of July. At that time, it was just a one story building made of bricks and having 4 classrooms along with a temporary chapel in the basement. The school opened on 10th of September with 93 students and just 3 Sisters.
