National Tourism Award

National Tourism Award is a prestigious award that is bestowed annually by the Ministry of Tourism on different sections of the Travel and Tourism Industry for excellence in different categories that have been identified.

The prestigious National Tourism Award for the year 2010-2011, given by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India was won by the DTTDC or Delhi Tourism and Transportation Corporation. The category in which this award was given to DTTDC was the “Best Heritage Walk”. Ms Pratibha Singh Patil, President of India who was the chief guest at the function conferred the award on DTTDC Chairman Mr. Manish Chatrath and CEO MD Mr. G G Saxena. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan in the presence of many eminent dignitaries such as Mr Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister Tourism , Mr. Sultan Ahmed  and many others. 

Heritage Walks has been a joint endeavour of Delhi Tourism and the Delhi Chapter of INTACH India. These Heritage Walks are organized to create awareness among Delhi residents and tourists about many unknown and lesser known places in Delhi that have lost their importance due to urban development and growth. These walks also aim to create awareness about living harmoniously with nature and history, to value heritage and culture and give a fair idea of the history associated with the area of heritage Walk.

Heritage walks are also conducted in the Archaeological Park at Mehrauli, Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, the famous Lodi Gardens, the area of Nizamuddin Dargah, Hauz Khas village and lake area. Many citizens and tourists enthusiastically take part in these walks that are not only pleasant but give a lot of information about the history, architecture and heritage of the place. Customized walks are also offered by DTTDC and INTACH for visitors and students to get complete and interesting information about places such as Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar, Red Fort, Purana Qila etc.

Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, India

World Travel & Tourism Council India Initiative, WTTCII conferred the highly acclaimed Tourism for Tomorrow Award on Delhi Tourism and Transportation Corporation, DTTDC in the category “Best Destination Leadership” for the year 2013. The award was received by the chairman of DTTDC Mr. Manish Chatrath.

Favourite Indian City

Another award received by Delhi Tourism was the Runners Up Trophy for the Favourite Indian City. This award was given by the Conde Nast Traveller India Magazine. Secretary Tourism Mr. Parwez Dewan gave the trophy to Mr. Sudhir Sobti, The Chief Manager of Delhi Tourism.
