Jalandhar
Jalandhar is the north-western city in Punjab. The oldest city of Punjab has seen very fast development and urbanization and has become a high industrial centre. The city was earlier known as Prasthala during the period of Mahabharata. And During the British era, it was known as Jullundur.
Attractions
King George's Royal Military School
The oldest building of Jalandhar and was used as a school. This building was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince of Wales KBMC in the year 1922, 25th February.
Hall of Prayer
This building which was earlier used as a hall to pray by people of different religious, now stands non-existent.
Devi Talab Mandir
This is situated in the heart of the city and has been recently renovated. Apart from this, there is also another temple of Kali close to Devi Talab Mandir.
Tulsi Mandir
There is a tank on one side of the temple and was said to be the bathing place of the demon Jalandhara.
Culture
The fairs and festivals showcase the rue culture of Jalandhar and the whole of Punjab. The fairs are a combination of culture and art displayed in the city.
The annual fair Harballabh Sangeet Mela is organized near the Devi Temple where the musical heritage is beautifully displayed.

Climatic Conditions and Best Time to Visit
Summers are difficult to bear and extreme winters as well. Just like the normal temperature conditions, the temperature in summer goes up till 45 degree C and dips down till 5 degree C during winters. It may even go down a little bit more just the nights. The autumn season is very soothing where the temperature conditions are bearable. The heat and the chill are much in control. The rainfall varies every year but the temperature is easy to bear. The rains of Punjab are considered to be very important for the farmers as their produce depends on the year’s rainfall.

Road
Buses from Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Pepsu, J and K, UP and Rajasthan ply on a regular basis.
Rail
The railway station of Jalandhar is on the Delhi-Amritsar Railway line which connects with direct trains to Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Nagpur, Puri and many more.
