Appam And Chicken Stew
Brief Description
Appam and Chicken Stew is one of the popular dishes in Kerala. It is easy to make that makes for great breakfast. It is made with coconut milk, rice pancake and Appam. Chicken Stew is easy to make by following this recipe.

Ingredients for Appam
- ½ kg - Raw Rice
- 1 full - Coconut (grated)
- ½ tsp - Yeast
- Salt - As per your taste
- 3 tsp - Sugar
- ½ cup - Cooked rice
Appam - Method of Preparation
Take rice and soak it about 4 hours and strain it nicely. Grate it with grinded coconut in a mixer. Mix salt, yeast and sugar in warm water and set aside for 30 minutes. Now transfer it into the grounded mixture. Put it about 8 hours to simmer. Now spread it roughly on a pan. Spread it nicely.
Now take them out the Appam from the vessel and serve it warm.
Ingredients for Chicken Stew
- ½ kg - Chicken piece
- 1- Potato
- 2 - Big onion
- 1 big - Carrot
- 5 no. - Green chilli
- 8 flakes - Garlic
- 1 piece - Ginger
- 2 sticks - Cinnamon
- 4 no. - Cloves
- 3 no. - Cardamom
- 1 - Bay leaf
- Coriander leaves
- Curry leaves
- 3 tsp - Coconut oil
- 1 cup - Thick coconut milk
- ½ tsp - Crushed pepper
Chicken Stew – Method of Preparation
Now cut the onions, carrots and chicken informing cubes. Take a pressure cooker and heat the 2tsp cocnut oil. Knead well. Add the clove cardamom and cinnamon and stir it. Now mix ginger and garlic nicely and stir well. Now transfer the chicken pieces into it and blend well. Add fleet leaf with half cup of water to it. Cover the lid and allow it to cook about 3 minutes.
Now switch off the heat and take them out in a pan. Add crushed pepper, salt, coriander and curry leaves. Knead well. Mix the stiff coconut milk with some oil. Set to cook about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with curry leaves.
Now it is ready to enjoy eating and combines nicely with warm Appams.
