Raised in accordance with the idea of simplicity that belies the teachings of Sri Sai Baba, this temple at Delhi is highly revered. There is the presence of a large idol of Shri Sai Baba in the temple. The foundation stone of this temple was laid during August in the year 1972 and the progress was administered by Pardhan Ghosh.
This temple is the main point of worship for several Sai Baba devotees of North India. Visitors can witness aarti celebrations and experience spiritual enlightenment here. It is observed that whenever one visits this temple with full trust and faith the sadness and impurity of one’s life comes out in the presence of Baba.
Structural Style of Sai Baba Temple
The construction of this temple was assisted by two businessmen namely Shri Kishan Chanda Dhawan and Shri Bhag Chand Taneja followed by Shri S.C Gupta, Shri M.M Lal and Shri R.S Sharma who contributed towards achieving the dreams of the devotees of Sai Baba in North India. The statue of Baba was bought from Jaipur under the watchful eyes and expert hands of Shri K.C Dhawan, Shri S.C Gupta, Shri R.S Chitnis, Shri Sushil Kapur, Shri R.S Sharma and Shri Krishan Kapur.
Many havans were performed here by south Indian priests before establishment of the statue in 1976. Since then, members and devotees of Sai Baba community liberally donated towards the maintenance and services of this memorial. There are several people from the film fraternity who have also generously paid for permitting them to film movies in the memorial and its surrounding premises. In order to protect visitors and devotees from the sun and rain, fiber sheds were installed. But unfortunately, these were destroyed due to a fire eruption that took place on 5th June in the year 2002.
Later on, non-combustible sheds of high quality were constructed, which were installed with mercury lights that in turn added to the temple view. After the fire incident there were many devotees who donated generously towards renovation of the temple.
