Garden Tourism Festival

Garden Tourism Festival is held every year in the month of February at Garden of Five Senses located in South Delhi in Saidul Ajaib Village near Mehrauli heritage area, opposite to Saket.

This is usually a 3-day festival organized by Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation (DTTDC). The first Garden Tourism Festival was held in 1988 in a park of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Greater Kailash.

Garden of Five Senses was opened in 2003. The garden, which features spiral paths, is partly on rocky terrain and partly features bamboo courts, pool of water lilies, herb gardens, and solar energy park. A secluded part of the garden features food restaurant and shopping alleys. The garden offers a perfect spot for seekers of mental peace and natural beauty. This is one of the picturesque and tranquil spots of Delhi that turns into a festive destination every now and then.

Time of Festival

The 28th Garden Tourism Festival was held from February 20, 2015. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the festival.

The theme of this year’s festival was landscaping and hanging plants.

Description of Festival

This year’s festival saw over 300 plant species, along with 400 different types of flowers. The festival was filled with vibrancy and intrigue thanks to interesting species of cacti, Zen gardens, Topiary gardens, Tree museum, Herbal gardens, and Aromatic gardens.

Different government organizations displayed their garden structures and flower arrangements. A competition was held between them.

Attractions

The Garden Tourism Festival witnessed a painting competition, a magic show, and cultural performances. Each evening of the festival was musical.

The festival offered a fine platform for sellers and buyers of plants.

How to Reach

Delhi city is connected well through airways, roadways, and railways.

Visitors can easily get auto rickshaws, cabs, local buses, and metro trains to the Garden of Five Senses. The nearest metro station is Saket metro station. The garden is 2.7 km from the station.
