Ullakarvi Falls

Ullakarvi Falls is located in Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu. It is at a distance of 35 kms from Kanyakumari town and 17 kms from Nagercoil. The meaning of the word ‘Ullakarvi’ means Universal falls. The bed of the waterfall is rocky and is present in forest area, which makes it more breathtaking. The stream water flows from the fall. The waterfall is visible through naked eyes on an obvious day or can be viewed through binoculars. As per old people, it is said that the waterfall rejuvenates power in self.

Location

Azhakiyapandiapuram village near to Nagercoil town is Ullakarvi Falls. The fall is found in the Western Ghats towards Nagercoil. Total height of the waterfall is 54.6 kms. There are two drops – lower fall and higher fall. The lower fall is a picnic spot and the higher spot is further mounting. It takes trekkers to climb 200 meters where they can enjoy hiking and swimming. Tourists can reach to the higher falls after climbing 660 feet uphill.

Activities to Do

Even during summer seasons the temperature of waterfall is cooler. The water reduces from the fall during the summer months. The lower portion of the waterfall makes an excellent picnic attraction for all. The waterfall is below the hills which is thrilling and also displays a green scenic view.

Ullakarvi Falls is a famous tourist destination and is well connected through all mediums of transport. One can choose according to his/her conveneicne. Tourists can hire a private cab from Kanyakumari and reach up-to waterfalls as Nagercoil is just 20 kms away from Kanyakumari.
