Anna Square

Anna Square is a great monument of worship to a famous leader of the state of Tamil Nadu, Late Chief Minister of the state Dr. C.N. Annadurai. This place is placed at a distance from the busy life of the city. However, numerous visitors keep visiting the place on a daily basis. It is situated close to northern brink of a wonderful hideout, the Marina Beach located in Chennai. The resting place of Annadurai, this monument has mortal remains of the late chief minister, who is known for his contribution to the state as a person who serves with utmost dedication and honesty.

The minister was able to create an amazing impact on the people and hence, they began to call him Anna, which means elder brother. He was known to be extremely down to earth and this is the reason that Anna Square was set up for people to pay their homage to one of the favourite leaders.

History

This famous set up is located at the Marina Beach and it was built in the honor of the famous Dravidian leader Arinzar Annadurai. His cremation was done here in 1969. This memorial is located amidst a lush green park.

Architecture

When you enter Anna Square, you will be welcomed by an arch and this will be in the shape of the elephant husk. It is situated across an area of 510 hectares and the memorial is featured with a safari park, museum, animal house and aquarium. Overall, the place can be considered a wonderful weekend getaway for the family and it is featured with the best aquariums and parks so that the kids will be entertained.
