Known for its scenic beauty and magnificence, Jharokha Mughal Garden is situated at Manasbal in Jammu and Kashmir. This garden is located at a distance of around 30 kilometers from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

For centuries, Kashmir has captivated Persian Kings and Mughal Emperors for its beauty. This led to the creation of several Mughal Gardens in the region. They continue to add beauty to the state and captivate every mind and soul. Well maintained lawns and vivacious flower beds make these lawns a great sight to behold.

About the Place

Tucked away on a vertical slope of the northeastern side of Manasbal Lake lies Jharokha Mughal Garden. This lake is beautiful and is famous for Lotus and attracts tourists from all over the world. Earlier known as Daroga Bagh, Jharokha Mughal Garden is now also called Lalla Rookh's Garden. This garden has the Royal Palace of Empress Noor Jahan, made by her husband Emperor Jahangir.

Situated at a distance of around 30 km from Srinagar, the palace and garden offers great view of a serene Manasbal Lake. Nestled in the lap of nature, Jharokha Mughal Garden is spread over an area of around 3.5 hectares. It makes a splendid visitor spot for both locals as well as tourists.

Currently, the government of Jammu and Kashmir is working to restore the medieval Jharokha Mughal Garden. The Floriculture Department and the Manasbal Development Authority are assigned to work together to revive the gardens.

Trivia

Jharokha Mughal Garden houses around 80 varieties of flowers. Offering an exquisite sight, this garden has been an attractive chosen spot for movie shots such as ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Andaz’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Mere Sanam’ and the recent ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’.

Summer season is the best time to visit the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

How to Reach

By Air

The easiest way to reach Manasbal is by air. The nearest airport is at Srinagar, which is around 30 kilometers away from the village of Manasbal. International visitors can take a flight from New Delhi to reach Jammu and Srinagar. This airport is well connected with frequent flights from New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh.

By Rail

The nearest railhead to Manasbal is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is well connected with major Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Trivandrum. Taking a bus or taxi services usually takes around an hour to reach Manasbal.

By Road

Manasbal is easily approachable from Srinagar as well as Jammu.
