Dubare Elephant Camp

This famous elephant camp was an outcome of a project between the Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd and the forest department. One can find plenty of elephants at this camp and they are trained under the natural habitat. This helps them understand the different aspects of the biology, history, ecology and many other aspects. Those who visit this park can not only see them but also indulge in those many activities related to elephants. In Dubare Elephant Camp, one can find more than 150 elephants in the surroundings. The elephants those who are a part of the Mysore Dasara also undergo a training at the Dubare Elephant Camp under the naturalists. With the logging of operations being ceased, the forest department is in a dilemma as to what to do with all these tigers. These elephants now are just used for the purpose of elephant rides for the tourists. Also for their maintenance and mahouts, the forest department has been spending a good amount of money to sustain these elephants.
