There are close to 105 blood banks in the state of West Bengal spread evenly across its location. Most of these blood banks are within the premises of big hospitals so that patients can immediate care and medical care in times of emergencies. Out of these, the capital city of Kolkata alone accounts for around 35 with Burdwan and Darjeeling following close suit with 14 and 9 blood banks respectively. All these banks are well-equipped with the rarest blood group as well to meet all kinds of unpredictable problems. The source of blood for these banks is the blood collected through various donation camps, organised by non-profit organisations in public places.
