In the state of Kerala, one can find many blood banks, especially in the vicinity of hospitals. If the cities are huge, then number of blood banks is also more. These blood banks store almost all types of blood groups, even the rarest ones, so that they can be counted upon in terms of untoward incidents. Some of these banks are owned by the government, while some banks are the initiatives of big corporates. Non -profit organisations also organise blood camps at offices, public venues, schools etc. to donate blood to these banks. There are close to 300 blood banks in Kerala at present.
