J&K state government established its independent board of education and university in 1970. Education in this region is classified as basic, middle and higher secondary and then at college and university level. The state follows X+2 set up for child education in schools. It is controlled by JKBOSE or the J&K Board of School Education. Both public and private sector enterprises are permitted by the govt. to disseminate education for all. A three tier board examination system is introduced at class VIII, class X and in class XII. Besides, there are central schools like Kendriya Vidyalayas (mostly controlled by Union Government) and Army schools which are also engaged in imparting school level edification. These institutions adhere to CBSE regulations.

Higher Education and Research Institute in J&K

There are many institutes in Jammu and Kashmir that offers higher education to aspiring students. University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Shri Mata Viashno Devi UniversityBaba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and many other well acclaimed centres of learning have been offering higher education in specialized fields. There are several research institutes as well where students with research oriented mind can conduct researches on various subjects.
