Mandvi Beach

The beach of Mandvi is the closest when you are coming from town. Once you walk across the bridge to the eastern side, you will reach a place called Salaya.  Just near to Salaya is the famous Kashi-Vishvananth temple. Because of the presence of the temple, the beach is also called the Kashi-Vishwanath beach. The best part of the Mandvi beach is its shore. It is an idle place to relax, unwind, have coconut water, swim under the clear blue sky and also enjoy the coastline.

Yet another jewel to the crown of the Mandvi is that it is also a historic port town of the Maharao of Kachchh. Situated around 60 kms. from the city of Bhuj, Mandavi is a premium beach of Gujarat. Earlier, for the royal family of Kachchh, it was an important sea trade post between the near east and the Far East. The prosperity of the royal family was mainly due to the business conducted through these ports.

The seawater of the Mandvi beach is beautiful. The pretty blue waters, birds, beaches, fishing joints and the beautiful docks are worth seeing. Ships are built are in these docks. The town of the Mandvi is also great for shopping. There are handicrafts like silverware, embroideries etc.

Best Time to Visit

Kutch is a treat for tourists throughout the year. If you still want to know the best time to visit Kutch, it would be during winter. Winter is ideal as you can easily walk around the beach without feeling the heat of the sun. The outdoor activities will be great fun in winter since the humidity will less in the atmosphere.

The beach of Mandvi is an ideal place to play volleyball, football and other games. It is also wonderful to walk down the lake side, walk near the Mandvi Palace or even do a bit of table tennis indoors. If you love nature and want to relish the scenery around you, the Mandvi beach is the right place for you.

Nearby Attraction

The Mandvi Palace is a Rajasthani style beautiful architecture amidst 450 acres of land. It was the summer palace built by Maharao Vijayarajji in 1929. The palace has even a private beach of its own that is maintained in an eco-friendly manner. The Rajasthani style architecture and the beauty of the place have captured the attention of many movie makers. Hence movies like Laggan, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc were shot there.

The palace is famous for its central dome supported pillars, the beautiful colored glasses of the windows, exquisite carvings. Stone carved elements and many more. There are also beautiful portraits in the palace. Majority are family portraits. There is a pavilion inside the palace from where the sea can be viewed.

Time: 9 am to 5 pm. Entrance fee Rs. 25 per person, Rs.35 on Sunday. Photography and Video are permitted. Camera - Rs.25/-.
