Sarkheswar Beach

Sarkeshwar beach is situated on the south-western part of Jaffrabad town, Amreli at a distance of approximately 10 km. It is situated near the southern tip of Saurashtra region. This region is almost close to the border of Indian Union territory, Diu. This Sarkeshwar Mahadev Beach in Vadhara Village in Gujarat is a virgin beach made up of golden sand. Sarkeshwar beach is a geological landform situated along the shoreline of a sea. This place generally consists of loosely packed particles which are often composed of rock particles like cobblestones, pebbles, shingle, gravel or sand. At times, the beach is also made from biological origins like coralline algae fragments or shell fragments.

These beaches are sometimes referred to be undiscovered, undefined, undeveloped or undeclared. These wild beach types are highly treasured for their untouched scenic beauty and perfectly preserved nature. These types of beaches are generally traced on less developed places like Indonesia, Thailand or Puerto Rico.

The nearest railway station is at Delwada which is approximately 15 km from this beach. This is a calm beach with rich quality of sand. The color of water is turquoise. The water in this beach is shallow for some distance inside the sea with very mild currents which is very conductive for water related sports activities. The beach gives a very attractive backdrop of the beautiful sea.

Sarkeshwar beach can be included in the list of tourist destinations both Saurashtra and also in Union Territory Diu. This place has got good connectivity by both the transportation modes, i.e., by road and by rail.

This beach will definitely allure good number of both national and international tourists, if there is proper focus on the quality of hotels, up-to-date infrastructure and good restaurants. The probable expected facilities, activities and infrastructure required under the development scheme are

  • Activities include eat, sleep, drink, laze or sunbath etc.
  • Facilities includes the development of road, electricity, parking area, drinking water, hotels, restaurants, sewerage system, cafeterias, motels, caravan facility and tented accommodation.
  • Infrastructure facilities includes the construction of entrance plaza with controlled entry point towards the beach, constructing roads from the main road to beach area, building new view points and comfort rest houses with local materials, facility of high mass illumination and light posts, drinking water, building pay and use toilets, signage’s, equipments for children to play and also Pay and Use toilets. Government is also planning to construct an Eco resort comprising of 5 luxury tents, 10 cottages and comfortable conference facilities which can accommodate 50 persons at a time. This is joint venture between TCGL and IL & FS.

Other excursion sites near to this beach are Amreli (Shreenathji Haveli, Gayatri temple and Nagnath temple), Machundari Dam, Doneshwar Mahadev temple in Dron village near Gir Gadhda, Kankai (Gir National Park), Delvada, Una and Tulsi-Shyam.

Thus, this state deliver good number of palaces, resorts, beaches and Hindu, Muslim and Jain worship places.
