The Village Gallery promotes contemporary Indian art. It organizes displays that have high historical importance. The gallery is located in a by-lane of South Delhi in the up market area of Hauz Khas Village. The gallery is famous for displaying the works of renowned artists and aspiring artists.

History

The Village Gallery was set up in 1989.

Collections

The Village Gallery has a collection of works from eminent artists like MF Husain, Veena Bhargav, Jaishree Burman, and Ganesh Pany. Most displays are drawings, lithographs, graphic designs, and sketches. Prices are not exorbitant. For instance, visitors can get a Husain lithograph for a couple of lakhs.

Visitors can also get sketches by Satyajit Ray. Haku Shah’s honor to Mahatma Gandhi with cotton wool, rags, and straw catches the eye. Then there are mono-rints done by female inmates of Tihar Jail.

Location and Timings

Location: 14, Hauz Khas village, South Delhi
Timing: Monday to Saturday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Sundays closed.

How to Reach

Tourists can easily avail themselves of cab service and metro train service to reach Hauz Khas Village. The nearest metro station is Hauz Khas station. The area is well connected through city buses.
