City of Kanpur is famous for a large number of industries in Uttar Pradesh. The city is the biggest in the state and also has many commercial activities. The city has other attractions also. One of such attraction is J K Temple. Singhania family, which owns numerous companies have formed a trust, known as J K Trust. This trust has created a beautiful temple in Kanpur. This temple is also known as Radha-Krishna temple. Idols of Lord Krishna and his consort Radha are installed in the main temple. The temple complex has, in fact, five distinct temples, dedicated to individual deities, as Radha-Krishna, Lakshmi-Narayan, Ardhanarishwar, Narmadeshwar and Hanuman. A park is situated beside the temple complex. A lake present nearby, adds beauty to the environs of the temple. J K Trust maintains the complex. Visitors to Kanpur invariably visit this temple to feel the spirituality in the serene surroundings.

History

This beautiful temple was built in the year 1960. Hence the temple does not have any historical background. There are no legends attached to it. This is a temple created for benefit of devotees of modern times.

Architecture

J K Temple is spread over the large area and hence does not have limitations of space, while creating it. The architecture has beautifully blended ancient science with modern ideas. The ‘mandaps’ are finely carved even level of the roofs. The roofs are kept at higher levels to ensure adequate light and ventilation inside the temple. The whole complex looks very attractive with intricate carvings on the temple walls. The carvings are reminiscent of great Indian heritage.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal season for visiting Kanpur is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant. People, who are visiting the city of Kanpur, for the sightseeing prefer this period. However devotees throng this temple complex every day throughout the year.

Timings

The temple is open for all from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

How to Reach

By Air

Kanpur has an airport, which is about 10 kms away from the Kanpur railway station. International tourists can also make use of the Lucknow international airport, which is about 70 kms away from Kanpur.

By Train

Kanpur is an important railway junction and has many trains connecting Kanpur to most other Indian cities, through efficient network.

By Road

Kanpur lies on one of the most important National Highways of India. Kanpur is connected to all towns and cities through the road network. Buses, taxis and similar modes of transport are readily available for the convenience of visitors.
