Soami Bagh Samadh is the mausoleum initiated by Huzur Swamiji Maharaj in the section of Swamibagh, on the Bhagwan Talkies situated on Dayal bagh road that lies in the outskirts of the city. Huzur Swamiji Maharaj was the estabilisher of the Radhaswami Faith. Most of the devotees regard this place as well as the Samadhi as a sacred icon.

History

The construction of the place, Soami Bagh was begun in the year 1908 and the genus had a belief that the construction of this building will never ever get completed. As a matter of fact, most of the people also had an argument on the monument being the "next Taj Mahal". This place being one of the largest tourist attractions defines its beauty with the monument being carved in stone comprises of colored or blending marble. The tomb’s marble contributes to its amazingly brilliant appearance which makes it an extraordinary monument of the country, India.

Soamiji Maharaj had bought Soami Bagh so that he can perform few of the spiritual practices in the place. Further, Soami Bagh turned out to as an abode to the Soamiji Maharaj’s Samadh. Situated adjacent to the mausoleum, this place has a Bhajan Ghar. In this Bhajan Ghar, Soamiji Maharaj carried out various spiritual practices throughout his life. Also, this Bhajan Ghar was addressed as the satsang house once every day.

Close to the Soami Bagh Samadh, there are few other buildings as well. As a tribute to past Sant Sat Gurus and Satsang, the Bhandara festivals are celebrated here with immense zest and people as well as the spiritual gurus from all over the world, visit with a motive of attending the festival. All of these buildings have offered the kitchen facilities dedicated to the Bhandara festivals, which are held at the Soami Bagh many times a year.

Best Time to Visit

Soami Bagh can be visited throughout the year. However, you are not recommended visit during the months of summer, April-June and the monsoon, July-September. It would be ideal for you to visit the city during the winter season.

Architecture

There are a numerous of Satsang dedicated buildings present on the grounds, out of which; the most significant is the Samadh of Soamiji Maharaj. The construction of this building was commenced during Maharaj Saheb’s time. This building is at present under construction under construction and therefore, the Satsang is held in the Samadh’s lower portion once a day. The Bhajan Gar which is adjacent to Soamiji Maharaj’s Samadh is solely dedicated for performing of the spiritual practices and also the Satsang that is performed once a day. On the Soami Bagh’s grounds is the residence of Babuji Maharaj and in this place, the Satsang is held two times a day. Babuji Maharaj’s descendents stay here to this day. Adjacent to the house of Babuhi Maharaj and besides the main gate are the humble quarters. It is said that these quarters were the living and working place to Sant Das. Nirmal Das was also said to have stayed here after he retired from public service. It is a majestic and high temple, which bears a height structure of 110 ft and is believed have had its construction done in 1861. One of the imposing structures that were built in Hindu architectural design and style and design compels people to believe that it has a structure competing to that of the Taj Mahal.

How to Reach

By Air

The Keria Airport of Agra is situated at a distance of 8 km from the heart of the city. The commutation from the airport to city will nearly cost Rs 150. Varanasi, Khajuraho and Delhi connect Agra by air. For rest of the cities, tourists are required to take the flight to Delhi.

By Rail

Agra is a huge railway junction and has numerous railway stations, out of which the Agra Cantonment Railway station is the main. Agra is connected to all the minor and mojor cities in India by Indian Railways.

By Road
