Shahpeers Mausoleum
Shahpeer’s Mausoleum is an exquisite structure colored in red. Its sandstone bricks take up the integral part of the constructed building. This temple was constructed by the Mughals with a purpose to commemorate one of their prophet’s deaths. This place is extremely impressive architecture wise and is one of the most popularly visited sites in the Meerut city.
History
The history says that Shahpeer came to this place to teach the mughal emperor, Jehangir. The local Jahagirdar “Raja Ji” built a gate in the mausoleum in the year 1829. As an honour to a local muslim, the great Hazrat Shahpeer, empress Nur Jahan commanded the mausoleum’s building in entirely mughal style in 1620 AD.

This place can be visited throughout the year except for the months of Jun, Jul, Aug and Sept.
Architecture
The red stoned Dargah structure is quite popular for its exquisite and unique architecture. As per the history demonstrates, this mausoleum was believed to be constructed 24 hours prior the death of Hazrat Shahpeer and for this very reason, the construction work was put to an end midway. Hence, even till date, it is believed as an incomplete construction. The beautiful nakashi work is carved on the tomb, with no roof over the prime tomb. This place has no rooms but there are a valuable range of paintings in stone.
