Darwan Lake is a beautiful lake located in Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh. Located in Gosaiganj, it is beautiful natural lake and is a must visit for people coming to this part of the state.

Location

The Darwan Lake is located near Amsin which is a gram panchayat and on the way to Katehri located in Ambedkar District in Uttar Pradesh. Amsin is the one of the largest gram pranchayats in the district of Faizabad and is also known as the Amsin Bazaar.

Climate

The summers are very hot in Amsin and start from the end of March and continue till the end of June. The maximum temperature can touch 45o C during the hottest days and in general, the days are very hot. July and September are the monsoon months in Amsin, Faizabad and this region receives enough rainfall during this time and hence, the roads get clumsy and muddy. The Darwan Lake also has a lot of water during this time. The best season to visit the Darwan Lake is during the winter and that starts from November and continues till the middle of February. The temperature is pleasant during this time and it does not go below 6o C on an average. Nights can be really chilly and hence make sure that you are carrying enough warm clothes while you are visiting this place during this time.

Geography

Lake Darwan is a natural lake as already mentioned and it has surface elevation of 870 ft and a depth of 38 ft. Lake Darwan’s exact location is given by the coordinates 26°31′53″N 82°26′16″E.

Lake Darwan has its own scenic beauty and its tranquility is what would attract you to it. Surrounded by greenery on all the sides, it is surely one place that you must visit. The Bhaduana Lake is also nearby and is a tourist spot here. There are various other tourist attractions in district Faizabad like Fort Calcutta, Gulab Bari or the Rose Garden and many more.

Amsin is a well connected place and lies on the way to Akbarpur road. The nearest village to Lake Darwan is Asmin village which in turn is well connected to all the major cities and towns viz. Akbarpur, Faizabad, Gosaiganj, Bandanpur, Katehri, Tanda, Mehbuhganj, Mijhaura and a few more. Once you are in Amsin, you will get different modes of transport to reach Lake Darwan. There are frequent buses to Faizabad from all the nearby big cities like Delhi, Allahabad, Varanasi and Lucknow.

By Railways

The nearest railway station to Amsin is Gosaiganj Railway Station that is only 5 km away. Faizabad Railway Station is about 35 km away and Akbarpur Railway Station is 15 km away from the village. Faizabad Railway Station is connected to all the major cities of India including Delhi, Allahabad, Varanasi and Lucknow.

The nearest airport is Lucknow Airport that is located 130 km away from Faizabad. If you are availing international flight, the nearest airport is in Delhi. There are taxis and buses from Lucknow airport to Faizabad.
