Bhavanisagar Dam together with its reservoir is otherwise known as Lower Bhavani Dam. Bhavanisagar Dam is situated on river Bhavani in the district of Erode in Tamil Nadu, India. Exactly, the dam is located about 9.9 miles (16 km) towards the western direction of Satyamangalam, 22 miles (35 km) from the beautiful place called Gobichettipalayam and approximately 22 miles (36 km) towards the northeast of Mettupalayam.

Hydrography

This dam provides water facility to the Lower Bhavani Project Canal and also holds the credit of being the 2nd largest dam in Tamil Nadu. This Lower Bhavani Project Canal was the major irrigation plan initiated after in 1947 after independence and came into operation in full swing by 1956. Bhavani Sagar Dam also provides water to 2 other canals: Lower Bhavani Project (LBP), Thadampalli and Arakkankottai.

Tourism

There is a park specially made for the benefit of children near Bhavanisagar Dam. This park is being maintained properly with regular cleaning to provide great comfort for kids to pass their time.
