History

Vattakottai beach is known for the 18th century citadel and shows the imprints of the rulers even today. The Vattakottai fort is one of precious places for the Indian Archeological Department and has been given a facelift recently. The major renovation of the fort was undertaken and is a protected site. Vattakottai beach can be seen from the fort and has experienced the thick and thin along with the fort. The fort was built in the 18th century and is constructed with the use of granite blocks. The part of the fort extends into the sea, hence providing the splendid view of Vattakottai beach and is a very famous tourist destination.

Geography

Vattakottai beach and the fort are an amazing sight and a treat for the eyes. The azure blue sea along with some great view makes the location a perfect picnic place. The Vattakottai beach is located at latitude 8.125 N and 77.565 E longitudes. The beach is just 7km from the very famous Kanyakumari town. Tourists visiting Kanyakumari can visit the beach for the spectacular views.
