Bor Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife sanctuaries were created with a vision to save the extinction of animals and protect them in their own natural habitat. One such exemplary name in such sanctuaries is Bor. It is famous for its various species of the cat family like the Bengal tigers and leopards.

Situated in the beautiful lands of Hingni in Maharashtra, the sanctuary is one of the most favorite tourist destinations. It is of significant value to know that Bor wildlife sanctuary is underway to be merged with the other notable tiger reserves of the region. Thus, enlarging the habitat of these animals, which are on the verge of extinction. So, that they can procreate and save their species from the otherwise unavoidable fate.

The sanctuary held 61 sq km area, until the government of Maharashtra added another 60 sq km area to it. This has greatly increased the living reserve for the inhabitants and specially the fauna of the sanctuary. Since it is a wildlife sanctuary, it is supposed to have some area reserved for tourist exploration and because that cannot be allowed in the whole sanctuary, the government has allowed 4.3% of total reserve for tourism and education purposes.
