Wonderla is an amazing and vast amusement park spread over an area of 83 acres, situated near Bidadi, around 28 kms from Bangalore. The park’s idea came from businessman Kochouseph Chittilappailly and his son Arjun Chittilappilly. The first of such a kind of amusement park was set by the duo at Kochi in Kerala in 2000. It is estimated that around Rs. 2.5 billion were spent for building these parks. The park has been operational since 2005.

Location

Wonderla amusement Park is located on Bangalore-Mysore highway, around 28 kms from Bangalore and just an hour’s drive from the city. You can drive straight from Sirsi flyover and proceed 28 km on Mysore road to reach the park. The huge gate arch of the park can be seen from a distance. Follow the right turn indicator and drive for around 1.5 km and you will find Wonderla on the left.

Facilities

Wonderla offers many awesome facilities that include a comfortable resort with rooms, conference facilities, restaurants, in addition to the recreational and kids play areas. Another highlight of the park is the strict adherence to quality and hygiene standards. Wonderla opened its resort in 2012, adjacent to the amusement park. Spread over an area of 100,000 square-feet, it has 84 rooms and also a dedicated play area for kids. The resort also offers recreational and conferencing facilities for guests.

There are five restaurants with a total seating capacity for 1150 people and has conferencing facilities that can accommodate around 1000 people at a time. The resort also offers 2350 locker facilities, restrooms and shower facilities for guests.  The visitors can also avail of first aid facility and paging system in the premises.

Safety and hygiene are the buzzword here at the park. In fact, Wonderla Amusement Park is only one of the two amusement parks in whole India to have implemented the OHSAS 18001:2007 safety standards. All the equipment in the park is regularly tested for performance and tolerance. It has also set up 5 water treatment plants in the vicinity to process, recycle and filter the water so that it remains safe and clean. It also has a well equipped water quality control laboratory which tests the water quality from time to time to prevent any health hazards and maintain cleanliness.

20% Discount for College Students

College students below the age of 22 can avail of 20% discount on entry ticket at Wonderla. They will have to produce college ID card and Age proof to avail the facility. The offer is valid for all days.

Tips for Visitors

General Tips

  • It is better to reach park early so that you can avail your favorite rides before it gets too crowded.
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes are advised for all rides.
  • Avoid wearing scarf, shawl or dupatta while getting on the rides as these clothing can get stuck anywhere and cause accidents.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery when visiting the park.
  • If you enjoy water rides, then carry an extra pair of clothing.
  • Carry towels, soap and shampoos with you.
  • Any child or children, if get separated from their group, will be informed not to leave the park.
  • Guest relation executives are there to help you, so feel free to contact them for any help or query.

Ride Safety Tips

  • The safety instructions mentioned on the boards should be adhered to strictly. Listen to the ride operators and follow all the instructions regarding height/age restrictions and other instructions strictly. Explain them to children and other members as well.
  • Inform and make children realize the importance of safety guidelines for each ride before they embark on them.
  • Never jump out of the ride even if it has come to a halt unless and until the ride operator asks you to. Sometimes, the rides may stop in between due to mechanical failures but stay seated and await instructions.
  • Do not continue rides if you feel very tired. It is advised to take breaks between rides.
  • There are posted signs for those who are over a certain height or weight. If you find any seat uncomfortable to sit on, then avoid that ride.
  • Refrain from forcing or pushing friends for rides.
  • Avoid running inside the park and discourage children from doing so.

General Safety Tips

  • Most of the rides in park are adventurous by nature, hence, safety guidelines should be adhered to strictly. Follow word by word instructions issued by life guards and ride operators. The management refrains from any responsibly arising out of accidents or injury if safety guidelines are not adhered to.
  • Do not dive into the pools for most of the pools are not deep but shallow. Grave accidents can arise if you dive into shallow pools.
  • It is advised that people who suffer from serious medical conditions or fits or epilepsy should avoid rides for it can cause harmful consequences. Management will not be responsible for any such situations.
  • Children, especially while on water rides, should be paid special attention by accompanying adults.
  • Seek the help of park staff or first aid in case of any emergency or discomfort.

Dress Code

  • A dress code is enforced in the water park for safety and hygiene reasons. The visitors are requested to comply with it.
  • Clothing not allowed in the park are Sarees, Dupatta, Long Pants, Shirts, Jeans, Cargos, Burkha, Denim (Jeans, Three fourth Jeans) School Uniforms and Indecent attires.
  • Suggested Attires: Synthetic clothes, T-shirts, Shorts, Bermuda, Three Fourth pants and Swimsuits.

How to Reach

Wonderla Park is easily accessible by train and public transport. The park does not have any transport facilities to and fro.

By Train

Nearest main Railway station is Bangalore City Junction (Majestic). Cab services or bus transport is available from the station to the park.

By Public Transport

Two BMTC buses, one from Majestic Bus Station (Route no 226J) and another from KR Market (Route no 226C & 226L) are available from Bangalore city to the park. In addition, route no 226 buses also stops at Wonderla Gate at Manchanayakana Halli. The park has a pick and drop facility from this point.

There are facilities for ample parking space for free at the park for vehicles.
