If tourists want to visit the Anthargange caves, you must come to the Anthargange Hills that are located in the Kollar district. These caves are actually a group of volcanic rocks. As these rocks settled down over the years, they joined together to become caves. This is an ideal tourist spot for tourists who have an eye for adventure and exploration. A few caves here are very narrow here that tourists need to crawl to get inside the caves. There are few ancient rock-cut temples and religious centers around this area that keep the tourists engaged. Since these caves are just about 70km from Bangalore, they are perfect weekend getaways. Tourists coming here can indulge in some adventurous activities like trekking, high-rope traversing and rappelling. The climate here is almost pleasant all through the year due to the presence of large number of natural springs here.

The Beauty of Caves

The Anthargange Caves is one of the most important and scenic tourist spots in Karnataka as it is surrounded by dense forests. These forests are quite green at the base of the hills and as tourist go up the hill, the forests give way to the thorny bushes.

Going up and around the caves will give the tourists one of the best experiences of their lifetimes. These caves are a perfect blend of fun, excitement and thrill. The caves that are located in the deep interiors of the rocks are extremely cool and misty inside. The caves that are very narrow are beyond the reach of even the most adventurous tourist.

However, if the caves are big, tourists can go inside them and explore to their hearts’ content.

The Mystic Caves

There is an intriguing mystery behind these caves that attract lots of visitors. Many big and small rocks had accumulated over a period of time to form the Anthargange caves. There are many caves here that are of varying shapes and sizes. Some are very small and narrow and give no room for the tourists to pass through. Some have a very narrow passage, through which tourist can go through only by crawling. These caves do not give space for the tourists to stand and explore their beauty.

Tourists who want to go up the hill to enjoy the beauty of the caves should carry enough food and water with them as there are not many stalls there. Tents and torches are the basic requirements for tourists who want to explore the beauty of the caves during the night. There are lots of monkeys in the area and tourists must be careful about their belongings. Monkeys take the belongings of tourists within seconds; hence extreme precaution is needed to ward off the animals.

How to Reach

Road

Bus facility is not available for Anthargange, therefore, tourists coming here should take the facilities of cabs, taxis, cars or bikes to get to the destination. Travelling through bike is an exciting experience as the scenery is quite wonderful.

Rail

Kollar railway station, which is located at just about 3 km away from Anthargange, is the nearest rail head to these caves. From railway station, cabs, taxis and cars are available on hire to get to the caves.

Air

Bangalore International airport, at a distance of 70 km from Anthargange, is the nearest airport. It is well connected with all the important cities in India and with all the developed European nations, American, Asian and Middle-east countries.
