History

A marvelous palace, Mubarak Mandi was once a royal residence belonging to Maharaja of Kashmir. The foundation of this palace was laid down 150 years back. Since then, this palace remained a primary seat of rulers of Dogra dynasty till 1925. Later Maharaja Hari Singh moved to northern part of Jammu. Successor of Dogra dynasty also contributed to this palace complex and increased the size of the building.

The palace houses various valuables of Dogra rulers. These valuables are put on exhibition in Dogra Art Musuem, which is a very famous section of the palace. There are miniature paintings demonstrating various style of art, which makes it unique in every way.

Architecture

Exemplary art and architecture of this palace makes it a speaking landmark of Kashmir. This palace is unique because it’s characterized by European, Mughal and Rajasthani style of architecture. A unique blend of these three styles of architecture adds grace to the beautiful palace.
