The saintly and history of Dera Beeram Shah shrine attracts people all year round. This historical gurudwara is situated at Jhangar in Jammu & Kashmir. It is a memorial of Baba Beeram Shah, who was one of the successors of sixth Sikh guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. This shrine is popular for organizing a Baisakhi festival, which is celebrated on the Sunday before Baisakhi. The shrine attracts a large crowd of Hindus and Sikhs on this occasion. A big fair is organized in the premises of the shrine.

About Dera Beeram Shah

Baba Beeram Shah’s shrine is a momentous spiritual place in Rajouri. There is a beautiful ancient take related to how this shrine was established. It is said that sometime in the 17th century, many saints from Punjab were sent by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji to the foothills of Jammu to spread messages of Sikhism. Baba Beeram Shah Ji Dutt was one of the saints, who had his Dera at Jhangar. Thus, his spiritual shrine was laid at this place.

History

During the 17th century when Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji sent his followers to spread the message of Sikkhism,they reached enormous ranges and foothills of Peer-Panchal. Thus, Baba Beeram Shah Ji Dutt’s Dera is located on a mountain. This place also has a resting place to give rest to travelers here. A road is being created to connect the main road to Dera Baba Beeram Shah Ji. It attracts a lot of locals and tourists.

Villagers here have blind faith on Baba Beeram Shah Ji. They believe that the real LOC (Line of Control) passes from the village and on daily basis a huge number of enemies cover this village from all sides. With blessings and sanction of Baba Beeram Shah Ji, villagers are safe and there is no loss of life and wealth of villagers.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit this holy and beautiful place is during summers which start from April and till June. Although people can visit and explore the Rajouri district even during winters as in winters the weather is pleasant although weather is chill but good and favorable for seeing the sights.

How to Reach

Rajouri is 154 Km far from Jammu and it is also known as the capital of Jammu & Kashmir in winters.

  • Nearest Airport: You can drop into the Jammu Airport and then reach Baba Beeram Shah Dera by taking a drive.
  • Nearest Railhead: Jammu Railway Station is the nearest railhead from there one can take drive to Dera Baba Beeram Shah Gurudwara.
  • Roadways: Srinagar Direct buses are not available to Rajouri. One can board bus till Jammu and from Jammu bus stand there are buses available to Rajouri.
