Lado Sarai Golf Course

Golf is “a rich man’s game”. Thus, to play golf is out of question for the common middle class people. However, the Qutub Golf Course is the first golf course in India meant for general public. The Delhi Development Authority has designed and developed it. Anybody and everybody have the permission to enter the golf course at any time without prior reservations.

With professional trainers and proper training facilities, the one and only “public golf course” is considered to be a sanctuary for novice golf enthusiasts to get to know the game. This golf course has 5600, 5800 and 6150 yards of teeing ground for women, men and professionals respectively.

Location

Qutub Golf Course is located at Lado Sarai, which is about 5 km from Ring Road, towards the way to Qutub Minar. The minar can be seen from the back of this golf course conveniently. It is probably the reason for the course to have this name. There is DDA SFS flats on Saket in the east, Aurobindo Marg on the west, Press Enclave Road on the North and Lado Sarai village on the south of the golf course. It is easy to reach this place but people generally prefer to drive to this location.

Facilities

At first, in January 2000, it started with 9 holes. However, in May 2002, another 9 holes were commissioned, thereby making it a standard 18 hole Golf Course. Stephen Kay designed Qutub Golf Course in the beginning, however, Brig Virendra Kumar took over the responsibility afterwards to design and construct it. This course has 250 yards of state-of-the-art driving range. There is a golfing academy as well to train beginners. The fact that helped the golf course become tougher is the massive tree plantation exercise and with the recent addition of tress, the course has become more beautiful.

Membership

It is not difficult to get membership in this golf course but getting a form is hard since the same is not available for distribution all round the year. However, DDA has made it possible for every Indian citizen to afford a game of golf, which was not possible before, with its “Pay and Play” facility here. With this service, one can hire required amenities and buy balls. If you want to enjoy, relax, exercise in the health club or swimming in the giant pool, you need to pay a little extra as fees to the club. There is a restaurant inside of this course for people to enjoy delicious food.
