Location and History

Arpana Art Gallery was founded by the mother-daughter duo of Ajeet and Arpana Caur in 1975 and registered formally in 1977. The basic activities of the gallery commenced from a DDA flat in Saket, Delhi but as operations grew, and more artists joined the academy, they shifted operations to Siri Fort Institutional Area where it is currently located.

A Rare Not for Profit Gallery

Arpana Art Gallery is a non-profit organization. They are quite unlike most other art galleries, which have commercial interests in the works of art they exhibit or in the artists they promote. Arpana Art Gallery does not charge any commission on sales. This gallery is committed to promoting new artists including the downtrodden and physically challenged so that they can live a dignified life.

The gallery has been locating and promoting many upcoming artists in the areas of painting, dance, sculpture, music, creative writing, theatre, and other forms of art. Scholarships are offered by the academy to motivate artists to deliver their best and open up their creative instincts. The gallery is the ideal platform for holding exhibitions for new artists. Visitors can view dance performances, plays, music concerts and other forms of art. Arpana Art Gallery is also the place preferred by authors for releasing new books and for translations of writings, regardless of the languages they are written in. There are over 1000 paintings and sculptures in the gallery’s collection.

Information for Visitors

Arpana Art Gallery is open to visitors on all days of the week except Sundays from 1100 Hrs to 1900 Hrs. Entry to the gallery is free for all visitors.
