This is a unique museum which explains about the evolution of life right from the most primitive times to the modern times. Tourists who are interested to know of formation of human life must mandatorily visit the museum. It captures exactly all the moments from the time when life was very raw till the recent times, where life is equipped with all technological advancements. The various stages of evolution are beautifully depicted through paintings. Some of the developmental sciences that are depicted scientifically and technically here are astronomy, geology, archaeology and early historic times. The library that is museum houses is a storehouse of information on various diverse subjects like botany, zoology, evolution, palaeontology, etc.

The museum is closed on Mondays and all national holidays as announced by the government. It functions between 10 AM to 4.30PM on working days.

Best Time to Visit

Chandigarh is blessed with moderate climate throughout the year. However, the months between September and March are ideal for visiting the city. During this time, one can enjoy the tourist attractions fully and sink in completely during activities that are done outdoor.  During April and May, tourists might be compelled to stay indoors due to intense hot waves. By Road

Shimla, which is 110km away, Manali which is 320km away, Delhi, which is 260km away and Dehradun, which is 175km away are all connected with Chandigarh as there are comfortable buses plying between these cities.
